Scalpers and Cigarette for a Dollar in NYC

Am I really tired! This is my 11th straight day of working and I’m photographing every day.

Maybe 300 images a day that I like. I end up deleting maybe 100 of them and the other 200 I store to take another, a second look. Last night I worked maybe five hours taking a second look at about maybe 4,000 photographs. Either the people are getting more interesting or I’m getting better but the images that are going on the site soon I hope are going to be a different level, a lot closer, totally different fashion than Canal Street for the last two years. So that’s something exciting.

I want to talk about this new area I’m in again. In New York City there are all kinds of little petty crimes going on everywhere. This place I’m at three blocks from Penn Station exactly two and a half, is all but ticket scalpers. I’ve seen these guys on and off for the last 20 years when I’m taking the train – you know, they’re just characters. Now that they see me there they’re of course wondering what I’m doing there but all the types of people that buy scalp tickets are just totally normal people. It isn’t like wild kids or adults. I mean, it’s like a whole crazy business.

The business I like that’s going on right by me is since cigarettes are so expensive and people don’t want to buy a pack, every couple of corners there’s a dude selling cigarettes for a dollar. It’s just like handshake, gets the dollar and the people walk behind him and gets the cigarettes. It’s very funny. I guess the people are saving money and they’re not smoking as much but it’s funny.

About tonight, tonight is going to be Thursday night – my evil wicked nightlife will start. A couple of events I’m thinking I’m going to. Just got to make sure the ex-wife takes the kids tonight because if she doesn’t do that, that stops all my plans. She’s been pretty good lately.

Signing off.
