Last night was two parties on Greene Street. Real quick thing about Greene Street that is in the middle of SoHo and Chinatown, I worked on Canal Street and Greene for two years. It’s a great street. There are about 20 high-end furniture stores with about 10 high-end galleries. Every Thursday, Friday, even Wednesday there’s always some type of party. I had a photograph a new furniture store. On the way there, as you walk down Greene Street you see people outside with champagne glasses. Whenever you see this, there’s usually a gallery show in the building or on the main floor.

Anyway, there is a new bathroom fixture company on the way to the party I HAD TO photograph. They had these exotic bathtubs that looked like giant half eggshells. There were all types of people and then all types of bathtubs and I said I’m from Portraits of New York, I was welcomed.

As I started looking for bathtubs, I couldn’t really get a point of reference on size so I asked some of the men and women if they could get into the tub so I could take pictures to show how big they are. Everybody was so happy, they’re jumping in the bathtubs, I’m getting different people in. They act like they’re almost having sex, some are just relaxing. They’re all posing for me. I was there for about a half hour, it was great.

Got out of there and I made it to the furniture store that I had to photograph. I did this furniture store the Bo Concepts – they’re great. They had this new do-it type of furniture art combination. They have an artist there with his paintings and they have a new designer of furniture. A chair is like $2,000 and table $4,000 – insane.

But everyone gets dressed up to go to these furniture parties. People are so interesting and great photographs. Once again, I have people posing on these leather couches. And a big giant pool table in there so I usually get some of the girls to hold pool sticks like they’re playing pool and they’re great pictures. They’re posed but they’re really nice.

That was it for last night. Yesterday of course were just people in the street. I was out for about seven hours, maybe about 500 images. I’m getting up close to these people and they’re getting more angry but the pictures are better. Something’s going to happen again soon, like either I’m going to get attacked, coffee in the face – whatever it’s going to be, it’s going to be something. But I feel the energy and I

I’m on the streets in New York City five days a week probably for about six hours. This is something that I see. A lot of young people are fat. Maybe 30% is like I see fat people everywhere and they’re young.

So, this is what I think. I think the last 20 years, the steroids and hormones in the chickens and the pigs and the cows and maybe the fish farms – these steroids or whatever is going on made these kids fatter and plus the food they’re eating. But what I noticed is these women, young girls maybe 14-15 in the face but I see a 22 year old body. It’s got to be something in the food because these women are a lot different than when I was in high school 35 years ago.

Another thing, I’m trying to get some really good close-up pictures. Of course, there are a lot of beautiful women on the site but I like to put a lot more men. I’m having a problem photographing men. They think I’m some gay guy trying to take their picture because I try to photograph really good ones or really in style.

But I also try to photograph the really tough Spanish guy, Black guy, the real bad ass. It could be a White guy with tattoos and I try to get up close to them and that freaks them out. So, I’m crossing the line here. So maybe if you don’t hear from me in a couple of days, it means that I got punched out.
