Yesterday – you know the more intense the face is, the more dangerous the person is which means the more dangerous it is to take a picture. These are characters that hang around Penn Station that drift off to 35th, 36th Street. They’re not homeless but they’re beggars. A lot of them are drug addicts or just very intense people. I’ve been trying to get up as close as I can to their face to get that portrait, that’s why it’s Portraits of New York. That’s one of the ways hopefully this website is going to work – very intense faces up close, candid.

Yesterday, someone called the police again about this guy taking pictures outside – which is me – and I had to explain everything. They called it in and they checked out Portraits of New York I think. But anyway, I want to talk later. The train is coming and I don’t want to be late for work.
