It’s night time. I have a small case of insomnia since I haven’t been drinking. But I’m getting a lot of stuff done. I guess I want to talk about my partner and mentor. Her name is Sophie.
We met about 21 years ago when she owned a magazine called Mentertainment®. These are go-go magazines.
She gave me a great opportunity to become staff photographer and we opened up Mentertainment® studios. It was great. I went to go-go bars every night, did portfolios during the day, booked girls in New Jersey and New York. I hate to use the word but I hit the pussy lottery. I was, once again, a fox in a hen house. Much better than the Key West gig with my grandfather for 10 years.
Anyway, that lasted for about two years with Sophie and we kept in close contact for the last 20 years. We’ve really been connected the last four years with this project, Portraits of New York. She’s been like – not a mentor, it’s a little bit more than that – a coach. And she coaches with her kabbalah, her landmark communications. She’s very into advanced people. Hopefully, she thinks of me like that.
Anyway, the problem is that she going on to big and better things. I don’t know how anything could be bigger and better than Portraits of New York where it’s going but she’s abandoning me. So, after November 12 we might be low on some blogs and some downloads.
We have a major download of 3,000 images holding up right here. Anyway, I hope she doesn’t abandon me.
Today was great. The Iron Workers Union, Auto Workers Union had a big rally on 7th Avenue. Maybe about 10,000 real men – iron workers and a lot of crowd are then walking around so there are a lot of cool pictures of like real American iron workers, you know, contractors, they were mixing with the garment district people.
Okay, anyway, today was just bizarre. I was out there scanning. People walk up to me that I don’t see for a long time. A gentleman, Robert from Rogue gallery…

As I was saying, as I was standing there taking pictures outside I ran into this famous art dealer, Robert of Rogue Gallery. He has a warehouse of art. He buys up anything that he likes and he tries to sell it. I mean, this is a real New York City art dealer – super quantity but unbelievable quality.
Anyway, I ran into him, we talked for a long time. He bought a couple of paintings from me and he bought some go-go stuff, he even bought some of Sal’s stuff. We had a great conversation about doing collages with Portraits of New York just like 200 really cool people, put them into a collage so I become famous. We could probably sell them for a lot of money. Anyway, that was the first person I ran into.
Then as I was outside, my high school buddy dentist I didn’t see for 10 years walked right up to me. I didn’t recognize him. He got his second wife, she was beautiful, he’s doing great. We hung out for a while, we had some crab bisque, next door to the store, there’s this incredible soup kitchen between 35th and 36th, 7th Avenue.
Anyway, banging out images all day. I have so many images now I don’t know what the hell I’m going to do. I have 3,000 to go on the site, 7,000 I have to edit. That’s all good. Fine, when I get some spare time I’ll do a 20-hour edit.
Anyway, tomorrow is the New York Press annual party. That’s going to be great. I’m the photographer there and in the next night is a Ranger hockey game, kind of front row seats.
Anyway, I’ll be doing a lot of photography the next 48 hours.
Signing off.
