Keith Terracina signing in. It’s the evening of August 29th, left time I spoke was this morning. Pretty funny thing is I sat in front of Madison Square Garden when I did the first blog which is also the New Jersey Devils skating rink.
When I got off the phone, I went to cross the street to go to my new job and there was about maybe 25 to 35 really good looking men coming out of the exit. I knew it all couldn’t be coincidental so I followed the group.
There’s a hockey movie coming out – these guys are here for auditions. They’re all in one big group and they all went this one guy with the clip board and since they’re all in that group, I told them that I was from Portraits of New York and got a couple of great group shots of really good looking guys which is a shortage on my site. I think it’s like 31,000 pictures, it’s over 20,000 of women.
Anyway, these guys are great. They posed, it worked out really well. It was one of those lucky shots I get now and then.
Starting a new store today. I worked there twice already. This store is on 31st and Avenue of the Americas which is 6th avenue. I worked at that street in an electronics store over 20 years ago so it was fun staying outside all day and photographing.
Whenever I go to a new area or store, it makes a lot of people uneasy. Most of the streets in Manhattan in these areas, there’s a lot of illegal activities. It could be purses or watches or whatever.
And when I stand there taking pictures for more than an hour, everyone gets all uptight. I explain to them who I am and what I’m doing, give them a card – people get relaxed, kind of. But what’s been going on is that I want closer pictures of people and to do that you really have to get in their face.
So, I’m really taking chances here. People are really getting pissed off and they’re getting to the point where I’m paranoid that someone’s going to just freak out and attack me.
It’s happened before…
