Yesterday was of course one of those days like all the other ones but this one’s a little different. Being the paparazzi of the common man has its pluses and its minuses.
I’ve always had many problems with people. The girls get angry, they think I’m some pervert. If it’s a big muscle guy, he thinks I’m some kind of gay guy and gets very angry. I’ve been attacked by umbrellas. I’ve actually been in jail and attacked. And something I always feared was some woman throwing hot coffee at me.
Only yesterday, a lady coming down the street with Starbucks, sipping at it, a beautiful girl – anyway, I took my picture a little too close. She stopped, screamed and I thought she was going to throw the coffee and she did. I blocked it with my hand then the camera. I got burned very bad on my forearm, coffee all over me, coffee all over the camera then she just screamed. I didn’t know what to do, I wasn’t going to scream at her or anything so she just left.
That’s one of the minuses of being a paparazzi of the common man. I guess the plus side of it is meeting all kinds of people, it’s fun, it’s exciting to stay out there. You meet a lot of girls too. Anyway, that’s one of the problems I had yesterday.
This new location I am at, 31st and 6th Avenue – I’m right on the corner. There are four different roads of the people coming at me, constantly using my peripheral vision – it’s great.
It’s the kids’ first day of school yesterday. I got home early. They wondered what happened to my arm, I said that I spilled a coffee on it. The older one said, “How can you spill a coffee up there?”
So anyway, signing off till later. I have a lot to talk about, I’ll just – we’ll do it later, okay? Signing off.

Keith Terracina, September 7th, nighttime. I had a good day in New York today. I was hanging out, watching everybody walk by.
These are things I see – I see a lot of good looking black guys with fat White women. I see a lot of beautiful Asian women with old White guys. I see a lot of guys with yarmulkas but none of them are good looking. These are some of the things I see.
I spend a lot of time going in to Port Authority and a lot of times going in to Penn Station. They have there resident bums in both locations. They’re 10 blocks apart. The Port Authority bums are more aggressive, younger, more dangerous. The Penn Station bums – they’re older, retired, they have been around. In fact, some of those bums I see for the last 15 years. The human body is one tough machine – just walking around, homeless eating junk. I’ve just been watching them in both ends.
It’s very hard to photograph homeless people. You’ve got to do it very sneaky because if they think you’re taking a picture of them, they have nothing to lose but to attack you. They’re just walking around manic depressive, looking to release their depressions. Can’t release depression but you can release anger so they switch it over right away. That’s why I see a lot of homeless people freaking out.
Anyway, Keith Terracina signing off.
